Pundit Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount needs to leave the club this summer, after being linked with a move to Liverpool.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, the former Aston Villa striker said the 24-year-old requires a fresh start elsewhere to get his form back.
“I think he has to go. I think, you know, it hasn’t worked out for him this season,” said Agbonlahor.
“You know, three goals and two assists – not good enough for where Chelsea want to go.

“But there’s clubs who would take Mason Mount. You look at Liverpool. Liverpool will take midfielders from everywhere. They’ll have Bellingham, they’ll have Rice, they’ll have Mount.
“You know, would he fit in a three at Liverpool? At Bayern Munich? You do see players linked with old managers. We don’t know if that’s definitely true, but there’s a top player in there in Mason Mount.
“But sometimes, being at a club since you were a kid, maybe it’s gone a bit stale there. He needs to move on and have a fresh start somewhere.”
According to football.london, the Reds genuinely believe they can lure the midfielder away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
Agbonlahor says Liverpool target Mount needs to move
The Times claim it will cost around £50m to convince Chelsea to sell the midfielder this summer, despite the fact he will only have 12 months remaining on his contract.
Although this seems expensive, when ignoring his contract and instead focusing on the player’s talents, Mount could be an excellent signing for Liverpool.
Having won the Blues’ Player of the Year twice, the 24-year-old has a wealth of experience at the top level.
He has made 128 appearances in the Premier League, having also amassed 43 appearances in international competitions.

Furthermore, he has already earned 36 caps for the England national team – having played a key role at the Euros in 2021 and at the World Cup in 2022.
Despite all this, his game time has been dwindling under Graham Potter.
Therefore, if he wants to remain an important player in the English top-flight, a move to Liverpool would work wonders for his career.
