Liverpool will not face competition from Bayern Munich in the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
That’s according to journalist Christian Falk, who has addressed the rumours claiming Thomas Tuchel wants to reunite with the 24-year-old in Bavaria.
Taking to Twitter, the reporter revealed that the England international was not a part of talks between the German club and their new manager.
“Mason Mount, of Chelsea, was not an issue in the talks between Thomas Tuchel and FC Bayern,” wrote Falk.

“The new coach wants to get an overview of the squad first.
“The midfield in particular is more than adequate.
“For further transfers, players would first have to be sold.”
This is in spite of The Times’s report, which suggests Bayern are exploring the possibility of making a move for Mount – with his contract situation uncertain.
Elsewhere, football.london claim Liverpool genuinely believe they can lure the midfielder away from Stamford Bridge. As a result, they are preparing to follow up their strong interest with an offer this summer.
Bayern won’t bid for Liverpool linked Mount
This will bring major relief to Anfield, as it would have been hard to beat Bayern to the midfielder’s signature.
The Merseyside outfit are desperate for midfield additions this summer, and it seems as if Mount has started to top the club’s transfer wish-list.
At the end of the season, the Chelsea star will only have 12 months left on his deal in West London.

Liverpool are likely to have thought they would have a chance of landing him for a cut-price offer – a slither of his true market value.
However, it has been suggested that Graham Potter’s side will still try to hold out for more than £50m.
So, whether the Reds decide to proceed or not remains to be seen, but he would sure be an excellent addition to Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
