Liverpool now face competition from Bayern Munich in the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, according to The Times.

As per the report, the German giants are exploring the possibility of making a move for the 24-year-old this summer – looking to capitalise on his dwindling contract.

Thomas Tuchel, the newly appointed Bayern head coach, is a strong admirer of the England international, who played a key part in the Blues’ Champions League win in 2021.

Chelsea are expected to demand at least £50m to allow Mount to leave, despite the fact he will only have 12 months left on his deal at the end of the season.

According to football.london, the Reds genuinely believe they can lure the midfielder away from Stamford Bridge.

As a result, they are preparing to follow up their interest with an offer.

As competition goes, Liverpool couldn’t come up against a much bigger team than Bayern Munich.

Being the most prolific club in Germany, Mount would be sure to win numerous Bundesliga titles, with the regular possibility of going far in the Champions League.

On the other hand, the Reds currently look like a shadow of their former selves, meaning they are probably quite a long way off competing for the Premier League and European silverware.

Bayern’s lure will have been made even stronger with Tuchel taking over as manager, as the pair have already formed a strong relationship together whilst at Chelsea.

However, the Merseyside outfit have been touted as the favourites on numerous occasions now, meaning they should remain optimistic at landing the west London star.
