Liverpool transfer news: Mason Mount prefers Anfield move, he's unlikely to stay at Chelsea

Liverpool target Mason Mount is unlikely to stay at Chelsea this summer, according to a report by FootballTransfers.

The Reds are heavily linked with the 24-year-old, following news that his contract negotiations at Stamford Bridge have proven far more difficult than initially expected.

With less than 18 months left on his current deal, the Blues could be forced to cash-in on the midfielder this summer – in order to not lose him on a free transfer next year.

As per FootballTransfers’ report, Mount prefers a move to Liverpool in the summer window.

As a priority target for Jurgen Klopp, it is thus unlikely the England international will be lining out for Chelsea next season.

Mount prefers Liverpool move this summer

This appears to be a huge development for the Reds, who are set to undergo major transformation in the transfer market this summer.

With the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner all set to depart at the end of the season, Liverpool ideally need a minimum of three new midfielders to come in.

Furthermore, if you’re comparing incoming and outgoing players like-for-like, Mount is certainly an upgrade on the departing trio.

He played a key part in a Champions League winning side, providing an assist for the only goal of the game in the final.

He possesses all of the traits needed to excel in the middle of the park for the Reds; the most important of which is being a hard-worker.

Thus, having been dubbed a £60m player by Jurgen Klopp, the fact he could be available on a cheap deal is a huge opportunity for Liverpool to capitalise on.

This is certainly one story to keep an eye on!
