Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson, who this season has been one of the breakout talents in the Premier League.

90min claim that the Reds, alongside Bayern Munich, FC Barcelona and Manchester United, are keeping tabs on the Republic of Ireland international, who has established himself as one of the next great talents coming out of Brighton this season.

Ferguson has bagged seven goals and three assists under Roberto De Zerbi this campaign, with scouts telling iNews that the attacker has all the qualities and potential to one day become a £100m-rated striker, which could explain Liverpool’s interest in the forward.

Already a fan favourite for both Brighton and Ireland, the 18-year-old forward has made quite the splash this season for club and country, and Liverpool’s interest could be of note for Ferguson, who recently admitted that his family are supporters of the Reds.

With Ireland legend and former United captain Roy Keane also excited by what’s to come from Ferguson’s career, the teenager has the world at his feet, and a move to Anfield could potentially be on the cards if Liverpool can beat the likes of Bayern and Barcelona to the Brighton talent’s signature.

Indeed, Liverpool signing Ferguson would be viewed by many as an impressive coup from the Merseyside club, and given the departure of Roberto Firmino this summer, the Irishman could be an ideal replacement for the Brazilian international in the market.

Ferguson has all the makings of being the next great Premier League striker, with the 18-year-old already shattering many expectations this season with Brighton in what is looking likely to be a historic year for the Seagulls. And for Liverpool, the attacker could be a good long-term signing.

With Firmino leaving, Liverpool have to get in more depth in the striker position to cover both Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota, and with Ferguson now on their radar, the Irish international could be a great addition for the Reds following on from his breakout year on the south coast.
