Eintracht Frankfurt will be left with no choice but to sell reported Liverpool target Randal Kolo Muani this summer.

That’s the view of journalist Christian Falk. Writing for CaughtOffside today, the German reporter claimed that there’s a growing feeling that Eintracht won’t be able to keep hold of their star man.

“Everyone’s getting the feeling that it’s no longer realistic for Frankfurt to keep Randal Kolo Muani for one year more,” Falk said.

“The player’s already come out and said it’s the first time he can think about a summer move – to a big club in particular. So, you see, Frankfurt is losing a lot of quality and this could be the reason why Oliver Glasner [the head coach] is considering leaving.”

Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move for the France international throughout the current season.

Liverpool losing ground in Muani chase

Muani has been a name reportedly on Liverpool’s shortlist ever since the turn of 2022. Back then, the 24-year-old was in the process of leaving Nantes on a free transfer.

Having missed out on him then, the Reds will seemingly now have to pay something close to £89m for Muani’s services. However, if Falk is to be believed, Liverpool once again aren’t the favourites in this race.

“Manchester United is a big thing for Muani. They don’t have the right striker for this position; look at Wout Weghorst – he’s only scored two goals for them,” said the reporter.

“They are preparing an offer for him. He knows that and if you have United in your head, it’s hard to concentrate on Frankfurt.”

There have been various reports that Liverpool are also preparing to make their move for Muani. But given the fact that United need a forward far more than the Reds, we can’t see how Liverpool come out on top in this one.

Most of Jurgen Klopp’s budget is needed to ensure the midfield is upgraded. The defence could also do with some attention too. As a result, for the fee Muani is likely to cost, he’s surely going to slip through their fingers again.
