Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare this summer.
The Ivorian has been rumoured to have been tracked by the Reds for a while, with 90min also reporting that to be the case today.
And while they were seemingly frustrated in their attempts to sign him last year, this time looks set to be different. It’s claimed that PSV are now open to letting Sangare leave the club, with the remit of cashing in while his stock is high.
To that end, the 25-year-old’s agents have reportedly offered the player out to a number of Premier League teams. West Ham are named as one as they prepare to look for a Declan Rice replacement. But Sangare is said to have set his sights on moving to a ‘bigger club.’
Higher up the Premier League table, all of Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are claimed to be ‘known admirers.’ Each could reportedly ensure his signing for around £32.5m – the value of his release clause.
Sangare not Liverpool’s first choice
It’s likely that Sangare is one of the players on Liverpool’s long-list of potential midfield options this summer. The Ivory Coast international has been subject to reports of interest from the Reds for ages.
At less than £33m, he wouldn’t break the bank for Liverpool and would add a certain amount of steel to the side.

But – and we could be wrong here – he doesn’t look to possess the same kind of quality as other named targets. Still plying his trade in the Dutch league at twenty-five, it would be a big jump up to playing for Liverpool.
Right now, Jurgen Klopp needs players who can hit the ground running. It’s imperative that the Reds bring in at least one, maybe two, perhaps even three players who can start immediately next season.
They won’t really have the luxury of bedding new signings in slowly. Liverpool can’t afford to start another campaign as sluggishly as they did this one.
As a result, we’re not 100 per cent convinced that Sangare is the right man to target. He’d add something, for sure and his price is a bargain. But with all due respect, Liverpool need to set their sights slightly higher.
