Liverpool youngster Tyler Morton has admitted that he’s been frustrated with his lack of game time at Blackburn Rovers recently.

Speaking in an interview with Lancashire Live, the 20-year-old spoke of his recent spell on the bench, and the way he has dealt with the setback.

“The manager has been brilliant, speaks to me a lot and I have to expect it,” said Morton.

“I’m still learning, I’m getting better week in, week out.

“It’s going to happen, I know that. I understand I’m not going to play every game and I’m young and coming into it, but my main aim is to play as many as I can and win as many as I can and hopefully I carry on doing that.

“I need to learn, become a professional which I am doing. I’ve been frustrated, if you’re not frustrated then you shouldn’t be a footballer, but I feel like I’ve dealt with it brilliantly and felt like I took my chance.

“It’s football, it’s going to happen, you’re going to have ups and downs and it’s how you take it. I think it takes a lot for you to not be in the squad and then be thrown in.

“It’s not easy to be told you’re not playing and as players we all know from first-hand experience. I think everyone has dealt with it perfectly.”

Morton left frustrated at Blackburn

Joining the Championship outfit at the start of the season, Morton made an instant impression at Ewood Park.

After the first few weeks saw cameos off the bench, the 20-year-old established a starting spot in midfield.

This has been maintained for the majority of the campaign, however recently, he has dropped to the substitutes.

In Blackburn’s previous six league matches, Morton only started once – failing to make the pitch at all on two separate occasions.

However, John Buckley’s season-ending injury suggests the youngster will be handed his spot back in the team.

This will be a huge opportunity for him to impress Liverpool’s coaches, before he returns to Anfield in the summer.
