Liverpool player’s agent admits his client has no future at Anfield, he’s going to leave

The agent of Liverpool midfielder Arthur Melo has admitted that his client will leave the club at the end of the season.

Arthur has failed to get going since his deadline day move from Juventus. Injury and a lack of match fitness have seen him make just one cameo appearance this campaign.

Liverpool do still retain the option to buy the 26-year-old this summer. But agent Federico Pastorello has now confirmed to Tuttomercatoweb that the Reds won’t be exercising this option.

“He was unlucky: the last day of the transfer window arrived, he paid for the season where he played little at Juventus,” began Pastorello.

“He was integrating and he had a boring injury for which he had to operate. It’s been three months of injury, he made his second bench, I hope he can at least make his contribution. I think he will come back from the loan and then we will see what to do.”

Arthur fails to make loan spell count

What a disappointment Arthur’s loan spell has turned out to be. Of course, there were many who could have told you it wasn’t going to go well when Liverpool brought him in last September.

But although we too were sceptical, it was exciting nevertheless. Everyone loves a good redemption story, and as unlikely as it felt that Arthur would get one at Liverpool, there was still a chance it could happen.

In the end, that three-month spell out injured has completely killed any possibility of an extended Anfield stay.

Prior to that, there were signs that Arthur was impressing staff and was keen to prove himself at the top level once again. Unfortunately for him though, that never bore any fruit.

Still, he is fit now. It would be good if he was able to at least get on the pitch a couple of times in the remaining 12 games of the season.

No player should sign for Liverpool and not have the feeling of running out in-front of the Anfield crowd as a home player. Wherever he goes from here, that will be something that stays with Arthur. Let’s hope he gets his moment at some point.
