Jurgen Klopp absolutely will not sell £38m star this summer, he’s a big part of Liverpool’s future

There’s absolutely no way that Liverpool will look to sell Luis Diaz in order to fund any new signings this summer.

In a Q&A session with Liverpool fans this morning, The Athletic were questioned whether Diaz could be sacrificed in order to build the Jude Bellingham warchest.

Thankfully, reporter James Pearce poured cold water on the suggestion.

“Even if Liverpool get Bellingham, they will still need at least one other midfielder and Mount is a serious option if Chelsea look set to sell him this summer,” Pearce explained. “Whatever happens, Diaz is going nowhere. He’s a big part of Liverpool’s future.”

Good to get that one put to bed. There are probably around a dozen players who you’d show the door before Liverpool’s flying Colombian.

No danger of surprise Diaz sale

Should Liverpool be inclined to put Diaz on the market, they’d get a huge fee for him. At various points since his arrival the 26-year-old has been declared Liverpool’s most valuable player.

With a move for Jude Bellingham now looking like being beyond the Reds, perhaps they’d be tempted to boost their kitty.

As far as we’re concerned, that would be a huge mistake. Thankfully, it seems like Liverpool – and crucially Jurgen Klopp – agree.

This season has been a massively frustrating one for Diaz. Having played only eight league games he’s had to watch the Reds struggle on without him. Struggle being the operative word.

With a bit of luck though, Liverpool won’t have to make it through another match without their No.23. All being well, Diaz looks to be in-line for a return to action against Manchester City on April 1st – Liverpool’s next game.

From there, we expect the former Porto man to show Klopp exactly what he’s been missing all season. Diaz arguably made himself Liverpool’s most important player from his £37.5m January arrival until the end of last season. We wouldn’t be surprised if he now did the same again. You simply don’t sell that kind of player.
