Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister is pushing to leave the club this summer, after claims Liverpool want to sign him.

That’s according to journalist Graeme Bailey, who recently spoke with TEAMtalk in an interview.

“Alexis Mac Allister wants to leave Brighton this summer. But he has a lot of hurdles to overcome before he can get out of the AMEX,” said Bailey.

“Mac Allister signed a new long-term deal just before Argentina’s World Cup campaign, which saw him excel. And it is no real shock to learn that the interest in him is strong with many clubs around Europe keen.

“However, Brighton as it stands are in no mood to sell – given that he only signed his new deal earlier in the season.”

According to FootballTransfers, the Reds are interested in signing the Argentine, whose father was spotted at Anfield for the 5-2 Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

Mac Allister wants to leave this summer

As per FootballTransfers’ report, Brighton value Mac Allister at around £70m.

With FSG’s attitude to transfers, this makes his arrival at Anfield somewhat unlikely.

At the moment, the only player Liverpool seem willing to break the bank for is Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham – and even that isn’t guaranteed.

As an alternative, the Reds could look towards someone like Mac Allister. But due to his steep price-tag, they’re more likely to look elsewhere for a cheaper option.

This is a shame, given he has been hailed as an ‘unbelievable’ player by pundit Jamie O’Hara.

The Argentina international has proved he is more than capable of competing at the top level in the Premier League. But in usual Liverpool fashion, they’re unlikely to sanction a big-money bid.
