Jurgen Klopp has decided Liverpool should sell four players this summer, and this includes defender Nat Phillips – who he actually stopped from leaving the club in January.
That’s according to FootballTransfers, who claim the Reds have identified Phillips, Caoimhin Kelleher, Konstantinos Tsimikas and Joel Matip as likely candidates to be moved on.
As mentioned, a notable departure here is Phillips, as the player has been touted on many occasions to leave the club.
As per the report, the 25-year-old is currently being monitored by Hertha Berlina.
The German outfit originally tried to sign him on a deadline day loan in January, but Klopp decided to pull the plug on the move at the last minute.
Klopp identifies players for summer moves
With a rebuild of his squad at the forefront of his agenda, Klopp will need to raise funds if he is to keep spending after welcoming a big-money signing like Jude Bellingham.
As much as everyone at the club would love to keep Kelleher, it would be difficult to convince such a quality goalkeeper to play back-up for the foreseeable future. Due to his incredible ability and massive potential, a Premier League suitor won’t be hard to come by, earmarking a summer exit for the Irishman.
Interest will certainly emerge from abroad for Tsimikas and Matip, as they are both players experienced at the top level. Liverpool could look to sell them on if they receive what they deem as acceptable offers – but there won’t be any rush to get them out of Anfield.
Furthermore, it also seems like it may finally be time for Phillips to move on. The defender has been promised a move on so many occasions, so it will only be fair to sanction his exit – likely to be for £10m – in the summer.
