Liverpool will happily agree to pay the £21m needed to sign Las Palmas midfielder Alberto Moleiro this summer.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who claim that the Reds may make a move to bring Moleiro to Anfield. As per the Spanish outlet this morning, Barcelona had appeared to be favourites for the 19-year-old.
Moleiro himself is also said to have been keen on the move to Camp Nou. But with Barca’s financial situation currently up in the air, the deal is now reportedly ‘increasingly complicated.’
It’s claimed that no such problems would stand in the way of Liverpool. The Reds are said to be ready and willing to pay Las Palmas’ £21m asking price. So too, it would seem, are Aston Villa who could also target Moleiro. For his part, the young midfielder would reportedly be happy to join anywhere that promised a ‘good football context.’
However, there could still be a sting in the tail. Moleiro will supposedly see his release clause jump to £53m if Las Palmas are promoted to La Liga. Should that come about, it’s claimed that the youngster could stay in the Canary Islands for another season.
Liverpool wary of Moleiro price hike
Liverpool are claimed to have been keeping an eye on Moleiro for some time now. The teenager is having a good season in La Liga 2, with his team sitting top of the table.
At just nineteen, he’s already into his second season as a first team regular for his boyhood club.
This has led to all sorts of praise coming his way. Described as ‘magic’ by his manager, the youngster looks like he has a big career ahead of him.
Should Las Palmas go up though, and it looks like they may well do, Liverpool shouldn’t be anywhere near this.
At £21m, there could be a decent deal there. Moleiro looks a little too similar to both Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho, but it’s not a bad price to pay for the Spaniard’s potential.
But if that asking price should more than doubles, there’s no need for the Reds to be involved here. If Moleiro can then kick on in La Liga, perhaps a bigger fee can be justified. No doubt Liverpool will keep on watching to find out.
