BBC pundit says Liverpool need to sign Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice this summer

BBC pundit Garth Crooks has urged Liverpool to sign Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice this summer.

Writing in his Team of the Week column for BBC Sport, the commentator was full of praise for the likes of Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson, for the part they played in the Reds’ 7-0 demolition of Manchester United.

He then proceeded to suggest two players Liverpool need to sign in order to get back to challenging for both the Premier League and the Champions League.

“Much has been said about where Liverpool currently are as a team and whether they might be on the decline,” wrote Crooks. “Well, not on this performance.

“United were undressed by Liverpool and there are only two things stopping Liverpool from becoming a major European force again: their names are Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice.”

Liverpool’s interest in Bellingham has been widely reported for over a year now, and the club look set to make an approach to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

It will reportedly take a fee of around £130m to get the Bundesliga outfit to relent, but the Reds currently look determined to secure their number one target.

As well as the 19-year-old sensation, Crooks believes Jurgen Klopp should try to sign West Ham captain Declan Rice in the summer.

At times this season, Liverpool have looked extremely vulnerable in the middle of the park.

Subsequently, fans have called for the club to bring in a new defensive midfielder.

With Rice most definitely on the market, he would be an obvious choice for the Reds.

Experienced in the Premier League, he has demonstrated that he is more than capable of performing at Europe’s highest level.

However, there has been talk that the Hammers could demand £100m to sell their star man, making this domestic switch an unrealistic possibility.
