People close to Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount are saying it’s highly likely he’ll join Liverpool this summer.
That’s according to TalkSPORT, who claim the Reds are increasingly confident of luring the 24-year-old away from Stamford Bridge.
With the player’s contract negotiations at a standstill with the Blues, he is set to be out of a deal next summer.
Jurgen Klopp thus believes Mount could be a brilliant addition to his squad on a cut-price fee, with the Merseyside outfit planning an overhaul of their midfield at the end of the season.
Although the domestic switch won’t go down well with Chelsea fans, sources close to the England international suggest a move to Anfield is now highly likely.
Liverpool increasingly confident of signing Mount
With the club desperate to add midfield additions to their squad this summer, Liverpool have already been linked with a myriad of players.
Out of those mentioned, not many come with more Premier League experience than Mount – who has 128 appearances in the division, during which he has bagged 27 goals and 24 assists.
Furthermore, he also has a wealth of experience in Europe. At 24 years old, he has already made 43 appearances across the Champions League, the Europa League, the Club World Cup and the Super Cup.
Therefore, it’s no surprise to see he’s been hailed as an ‘unbelievable’ footballer by Chelsea hero Joe Cole.
Even Klopp himself has previously labelled the midfielder as a ‘£60m player’, alluding to his excellent quality.
Liverpool really might try to land Mount at the end of the season, especially if he’s available on a cut-price deal. Therefore, this is exciting news for the Anfield faithful.
