Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is open to the idea of joining Liverpool, if he decides to leave his boyhood club this summer.
That’s according to FootballTransfers, who claim the 24-year-old’s first choice club would be the Reds, if a move transpired for him at the end of the season.
It has been reported that there’s a genuine chance the England international could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, after disagreements over a contract renewal have emerged.
Mount is out of contract next summer; so, if the Blues fail to agree an extension, they could be forced into cashing-in on the player.
As per a report from 90min, the Chelsea star joins Jude Bellingham, of Borussia Dortmund, and Matheus Nunes, of Wolverhampton Wanderers, on Jurgen Klopp’s transfer wish-list for the summer.
Mount open to joining Liverpool this summer
Liverpool are set to go about rebuilding their midfield, with many incomings and outgoings expected before the start of next season.
The likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner are all set to leave the club this summer upon the expiry of their contracts.
Therefore, numerous replacements are needed. This need is further exacerbated by a huge drop-off in form from other midfielders in the squad over the past few months.
With the Reds hoping to go all out for Bellingham, a few more additions are needed in the middle of the park.
As the majority of the budget will be going on the 19-year-old, Mount – who could be available on a cut-price deal – would be a great signing for the Merseyside outfit.
Hailed by Joe Cole as an ‘unbelievable’ footballer, Klopp has previously labelled the 24-year-old as a ‘£60m player’.
Thus, if the price quoted is significantly lower than than the German’s valuation, Liverpool could attempt to land him in the summer.
