Liverpool transfer news: Fabrizio Romano now quashes rumour about Thiago leaving Anfield

The rumours linking Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara with a move to Fenerbahce are false, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.

As per a report by Turkish outlet A Spor, the Super Lig giants are keen to sign the 31-year-old in the summer, and they’re willing to pay £7m to secure his services.

However, taking to Twitter, Romano has quashed these claims.

“To answer many questions: there are no chances, no contacts and nothing true into the links between Thiago Alcantara and Fenerbahçe, despite links in Turkey,” wrote the journalist.

“Thiago Alcantara is only focused on the Liverpool project.”

The Spaniard is out of contract at Anfield next summer, but talks are yet to be held over a renewal.

Romano says Thiago is staying at Liverpool

Out of all the midfielders Jurgen Klopp has at his disposal, Thiago is certainly the best.

According to SofaScore match ratings, the former Bayern Munich ace has been Liverpool’s second-best player in the Premier League this season.

He leads the Reds for tackles and long balls made per game – with 2.9 and 6 respectively – and he also comes close for dribbles and interceptions completed as well (via WhoScored).

Therefore, when news emerged linking the 31-year-old with a move to Turkey, fans were worried by the situation.

Going off performances this season, Thiago is one of the last players Liverpool should look to part ways with.

Thus, the £7m offer being proposed was almost insulting.

As a ‘world-class’ player, as labelled by Klopp, he is most definitely worth the £20m the club paid to sign him in 2020.
