Fenerbahce are now planning to offer just £7m to try and sign Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara, according to A Spor.
As per the report, the Turkish giants are keen to land the 31-year-old in the summer.
It’s believed they’re willing to pay £7m for his services.
The Spaniard is out of contract at Anfield next summer, but talks are yet to be held over a renewal.
He arrived on Merseyside in 2020, after the Reds agreed a £20m fee with Bayern Munich to sign him on a four-year deal.
Fenerbahce want to sign Thiago
With the state of Liverpool’s midfield at the moment, this would be a ridiculous proposition to entertain.
Besides 18-year-old Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago has been Jurgen Klopp’s most important player in the middle of the park this season – and by some distance too.
When others have struggled going forward, the Spaniard has been a creative threat, spraying mesmerising passes around the pitch and in behind the opposition defence.
Furthermore, he has also been the best defensively. Although it hasn’t necessarily been his job to be, the 31-year-old has been the constant presence in the middle looking to make tackles and recycle possession.
Therefore, with all of this in mind, he is worth far more than £7m to Liverpool.
Hailed for his ‘world-class’ talent by Klopp himself, this is just a rumour which will fail to come to fruition.
