Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez has suggested he could feature against Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight, after suffering from a shoulder injury.
Having missed the Crystal Palace stalemate due to this issue, there were questions whether the 23-year-old would be fit enough to play the Old Gold during the week.
During his pre-match press conference yesterday, Jurgen Klopp claimed the Uruguayan could make the squad, but that they would seek confirmation closer to the time.
“Ibou [Konate] trained yesterday completely normal and Darwin as well. Then we will see,” said Klopp. “Darwin we have to see. It looked absolutely okay yesterday, but we have to see how he reacts.”
However, just the evening before the game, Nunez took to Twitter to suggest he may feature at Anfield.
He uploaded a short montage previewing the clash against Wolves, with his face pictured alongside the details of the match.
This suggests he is more than likely fit to make an appearance later tonight.
Darwin suggests he will feature against Wolves
This will come as a huge boost for Klopp, who missed the forward’s menacing threat against Palace on Saturday.
Liverpool were held to a dull 0-0 draw at Selhurst Park, with Nunez’s absence clear to see.
With his brute strength and incredible pace, the Uruguay international would have caused mayhem amongst the opposition defence.
Even if it’s not Nunez himself firing on goal, he always does enough to create chances for his teammates – making him a crucial member of Klopp’s starting XI.
Therefore, his availability to play against Wolves will come as a massive boost for the side.
If Liverpool are going to close the gap on the top-four, they need to start winning games regularly. Hopefully this starts tonight – with Nunez at the helm.
