Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has claimed there’s no chance Jurgen Klopp will leave the club this summer.
That’s according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, who spoke with the Dutchman at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022 last night.
The 31-year-old chatted about the Reds manager, and how the side are hoping to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.
“Jurgen Klopp is the boss and that doesn’t change [next season],” said Van Dijk.
“I‘m very happy with him. He‘s very happy at Liverpool.
“Hopefully better times are coming again. That’s we are working for.”
Van Dijk says there’s no chance Klopp leaves
Speaking on behalf of the vast majority of fans, the last thing they would want right now is for Klopp to leave the club.
Since arriving at Anfield in 2015, the German has embodied everything it means to be a part of Liverpool FC.
He understands the supporters, the players and everyone involved with the Merseyside outfit.
As a result, although the Reds are going through a slump this season, this hasn’t changed how fans view him – the most important figure at the club.
This lines up with what one of his former players, that being Tim Hoogland, claimed about the German; having hailed his personal qualities as simply ‘unbelievable’.
Therefore, Van Dijk’s comments will come as a huge relief for the Anfield faithful.
Instead, Klopp can now focus on rebuilding his squad this summer, as reinforcements are desperately needed on the pitch.
