Liverpool’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Nunes will not affect their interest in Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
That’s according to 90min, who claim that the Reds being the frontrunners for the 19-year-old England international won’t affect their chances of landing the Stamford Bridge star.
Mount is out of contract next summer, and the Merseyside outfit are keen to sign him on a cut-price deal if he decides to leave west London.
As is the case with Nunes of Wolves, these players are seen as potential partners to compliment Bellingham in the middle of the park.
Therefore, they hope they can lure all three to Anfield at the end of the season, in a triple midfield swoop.
Liverpool eyeing Mount in triple swoop
Liverpool desperately need midfield additions this summer.
At the moment, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner are all expected to leave Anfield upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of the season.
This means the club need at least three new players to come in and take their positions in the squad.
With all eyes focused on Bellingham, the Reds are scouting out for additional midfielders to sign.
Having been regularly touted with Nunes, this seems like a realistic possibility – especially given he came close to joining the Merseyside outfit last year.
However, Mount is less of a certainty, as his career at Chelsea remains up in the air.
Hailed by Joe Cole as an ‘unbelievable’ footballer, the 24-year-old is vastly experienced in the Premier League, having amassed 127 appearances in the division.
Therefore, on a cut-price deal, he would be a great acquisition for the club – especially alongside Nunes and Bellingham.
