Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche has dismissed rumours linking him to Liverpool as ‘speculation.’
As per a video from Sport1, Krosche was asked directly about a move to Anfield following Eintracht’s 2-0 loss to Napoli last night.
“It’s speculation. You have to ask the person who wrote it,” the 42-year-old reportedly responded.
“I’m here and I’m happy to be at Eintracht Frankfurt. We still have a lot to do, we have developed very, very well. There is nothing more to say.”
Krosche on Liverpool’s radar
Krosche has emerged as a candidate in Liverpool’s search to replace the outgoing Julian Ward this summer.
As per the ever reliable David Ornstein in The Athletic, the former RB Leipzig man has been ‘attracting interest’ from the Reds to that end.
Given his links to Leipzig, who Liverpool have done plenty of business with in the past, this isn’t a surprise. With Eintracht also getting some eye-catching deals done since his 2021 arrival, Krosche’s star is rising.
In terms of his comments here, the Paderborn legend isn’t giving too much away.
It’s interesting though, that Krosche doesn’t exactly deny the rumours either. His answer is very much one of saying something whilst saying nothing. Put it this way, he didn’t rule anything out.
It may be true that Krosche has a good thing going at Eintracht – they are certainly an upwardly mobile club right now. But surely the chance to link up with Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool would be too good to turn down?
Right now, with Paul Mitchell seemingly no longer a candidate, Krosche’s is the only name in the discussion.
Whether that leads to anything more concrete, we’ll hopefully learn over the coming months. If Liverpool can’t get the former midfielder in place before the summer window, they’ll need to move on. It’s vital that the Reds go into the market knowing exactly who’s doing what.
