Liverpool miss out on French striker Randal Kolo Muani as he signs for someone else. The 23-year-old looks like a bright prospect.
Eintracht Frankfurt confirmed on Friday that they’ve agreed on a pre-contract with Randal Kolo Muani – a supposed Liverpool target. The 23-year-old is coming up to the end of his contract with Nantes, allowing him to sign for Frankfurt.
Liverpool looked into a deal, though, according to Bild. The Reds were one of a few clubs – along with AC Milan – who saw value in the Frenchman.
But Frankfurt, as expected, have come out on top here. They’ll get Kolo Munai for the foreseeable future and you’ve got to say that’s something of a coup for the Germans.
Liverpool miss out on Randal Kolo Muani
We’ve talked about Kolo Muani before and he certainly looks like a very promising young player. He’s got nine goals in Ligue 1 this season, for one thing, but his ‘background’ stats also look good.
Kolo Muani presses very well, can pass the ball and is just generally a very good all-around striker. For Liverpool, though, they perhaps want to see a bit more.

There’s no doubting the potential or value in the striker, certainly. Is he good enough yet – or proven enough – to take up a place in Liverpool’s squad, though?
You’d have to say no, right now. But that’s what makes him one to watch. If Kolo Muani impresses at Frankfurt then we may well see Liverpool go back in for the player – even if they need to pay cash upfront this time around.
So we’ll keep an eye on how Muani does. The talent is there, certainly, and another good season or two could still see Liverpool make a bigger attempt for his signature.
