There’s a good chance Liverpool transfer target Piotr Zielinski could leave Napoli in the summer, according to reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano.
As per his Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside, the reporter suggests the Reds are being linked with the 28-year-old again, having held a long-standing interest in the playmaker.
“Liverpool have been linked with Piotr Zielinski for a long time, since 2013 I think,” Romano said.
“We’re seeing those links again, but my understanding at the moment is that there’s nothing concrete.
“It’s almost impossible for agents, players or directors to discuss players’ futures with Napoli as they are 101% focused on the final part of the season.
“There is no interest in talks, contracts, or transfer plans. They have Serie A to win, they have the Champions League to focus on, and nothing is decided.
“Still, my personal feeling is that Zielinski in the summer will have a good chance to leave.”
Romano says Liverpool-linked Zielinski could leave
Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to add numerous midfield additions to his squad ahead of next season.
Whilst the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Nunes have been regularly touted with moves to Anfield, Liverpool will need more than two arrivals this summer.
Therefore, as Zielinski will only have 12 months left on his deal with Napoli, the Reds could target him on a cut-price deal.
Having been linked with the Merseyside outfit for years now, Klopp’s recruitment staff will have detailed accounts of the player’s profile.
Hailed by Polish legend Zbigniew Boniek as an ‘extraordinary’ midfielder, the Napoli star could prove to be brilliant value for money if his side are forced to cash-in on him, ahead of his contract expiry.
At 28-years-old, Zielinski may be older than what Klopp’s looking for, but a cheap deal could surely persuade him otherwise.
