Sadio Mane surprisingly names former Liverpool teammate as the best finisher he's played with

Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has named Divock Origi as the best finisher he’s played alongside in his career.

Mane has played with some great goal scorers throughout his career – Mohamed Salah anyone? But asked to name the very best of all by 11teamsports on TikTok, the Bayern Munich man surprisingly named Origi.

Elsewhere, the only Liverpool representation was in the form of Reds captain Jordan Henderson. Mane named the 32-year-old as the best leader he’d come across during the last 15 years.

In categories such as speed, intelligence and dribbling, Sadio went with his current Bayern teammates. Don’t let the Liverpool dressing room see this!

Origi failing to fire in Milan

For those paying attention, this shouldn’t be all that much of surprise. Jurgen Klopp even said the same himself during last season.

Despite his failure to nail down a spot in the Liverpool XI after his Ā£10m arrival, he was clearly highly rated behind the scenes. That unfortunately hasn’t translated into enough goals, though.

You could see during his years at Anfield that Origi knew where the back of the net was. But for one reason or another, this was never enough to keep him in Klopp’s team.

Still, 41 goals in 175 games isn’t an all together terrible record, especially when you consider that most of Divock’s game time was off the bench.

Since leaving Liverpool last summer though, Origi’s output has fallen off a cliff.

Seen as an astute signing on a free transfer for AC Milan, the 27-year-old simply hasn’t got going in Italy.

Injuries have been a recurring issue for Origi, but two goals in 20 appearances isn’t good enough. With Milan struggling to hit the heights of last season, the Belgian hasn’t been a reliable back-up to Olivier Giroud.

Again though, a lot of Divock’s opportunities have been coming on at the end of games. If they decide to put him on a bit more, they might reap the benefits. Just ask Sadio.
