Real Madrid officials recently met with the representatives of Liverpool target and Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham to discuss a summer move.
That’s reported by Defensa Central, who claim the 19-year-old’s people met with Los Blancos on Wednesday to speak about the possibility of a potential switch at the end of the season.
As usual, the Reds are credited in the report with strong interest in the youngster; this time alongside Chelsea and Manchester City.
A while back, Liverpool and Madrid were touted as the frontrunners in the race.
However, it recently emerged that the Spanish giants came to believe that Bellingham prefers a move to the Premier League.
The situation remains up in the air, but the Merseyside outfit remain well positioned to land the England international.
Madrid met with Bellingham’s representatives
Although it was inevitable that Bellingham was going to explore all of his options before making a decision, talks with Madrid will be a hurdle in Liverpool’s pursuit of the player.
At the moment, Liverpool sit ninth in the Premier League – severely out of form.
As expected, Carlo Ancelotti’s side are performing far better than the Reds, currently second in La Liga.
The two teams are set to meet each other in the round of 16 of the Champions League next week, kicking off the first leg of their knockout tie.
This will be a good opportunity for Bellingham to watch on and make an assessment on both of his options.
Jurgen Klopp’s men will need to do all they can to wow the teenager, as FSG’s transfer hopes have been solely pinned on the midfielder signing.
With this in mind, Liverpool need to step up their negotiations if they are to land the ‘sensational’ star from Dortmund.
