Everton’s Conor Coady has claimed that Liverpool target Jude Bellingham ‘isn’t too far behind’ the ability of Harry Kane.
Coady was asked to name his favourite England player during the build up to last night’s Merseyside Derby on Sky Sports. Interestingly, the former Liverpool academy captain mentioned a player his old club are desperate to sign.
“I think Harry Kane is incredible but I don’t think Jude Bellingham is too far behind him,” said the 29-year-old.
All being well, Coady could hopefully line up against the 19-year-old when the next Merseyside Derby rolls around.
Bellingham catching up with Kane
That Bellingham is getting the praise of senior pros only further underlines why Liverpool are desperate to sign him.
The England squad is full of players who have won the lot during their careers. Okay, that doesn’t apply to Kane, but that hasn’t stopped him from being one of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen.
For Bellingham to be mentioned alongside the Tottenham Hotspur man is testament to his burgeoning reputation.
Fully 10 years younger than Kane, the Borussia Dortmund player has already won more than his national team captain. He can truly achieve whatever he wants to in the game. Hopefully with Liverpool.
What’s the latest on Bellingham
It feels like we’ve been going round in circles in regards to Bellingham’s future for quite some time.
The reality is that as of now, the youngster is still yet to decide where his future lies. Liverpool may or may not be ‘leading the race’ – we likely won’t know until a decision is reached.
Judging from the entire saga so far, it doesn’t seem as though there’ll be any kind of bargaining. Once Bellingham and his family have selected who they’ll be joining, the door will close for the other clubs in the running.
As a result, we may not hear too many updates until a deal is close. With three months to go in the season Dortmund still have plenty to play for. It would be a surprise if Bellingham announces anything until everything is tied up at his current club.
