Report: Rumours are getting stronger that Naby Keita will be leaving Liverpool

Rumours are getting stronger that Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita will leave the club at the end of the season.

That’s according to GOAL, who claim multiple sources have indicated that the 28-year-old will depart the Reds on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract in the summer.

Having welcomed the former RB Leipzig man to Anfield in a deal worth £52.75m, Keita was meant to be the player Liverpool were going to structure their midfield around.

However, this hasn’t been the case. Instead, he’s set to leave Merseyside for nothing in five months’ time.

Surprisingly, the Guinea international remains the fourth-biggest signing in the club’s history.

Keita set to leave Liverpool

At times, Keita looks extremely impressive.

He has shown glimpses of absolute brilliance in the middle of the park, demonstrating the calibre of a player bought for nearly £53m.

However, despite his talents, the midfielder hasn’t been able to flourish at Anfield.

His extensive injury issues have certainly held him back, as he has only made 127 appearances for the club in over four-and-a-half years.

Despite this, Jurgen Klopp was always considering keeping Keita at Liverpool beyond the summer, due to the lack of options he has in his squad.

However, it now appears this isn’t the case anymore, as the 28-year-old is set to leave the club at the end of the season.

Instead, the Reds are planning to embark on a summer rebuild – starting with the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
