Liverpool now set to announce exciting behind-the-scenes appointment – journalist

Liverpool have appointed Will Spearman as the club’s new Director of Research, following Ian Graham’s resignation.

That’s according to reliable journalist Paul Joyce.

With Graham leaving Merseyside in May, the Reds have been searching for a suitable replacement.

Instead of looking to bring someone new in, they have decided to promote the club’s lead data scientist, Will Spearman.

Spearman will take over the role from Graham, who arrived at Anfield in 2012, where he went on to establish Liverpool’s renowned data science department.

Liverpool keeping their recruitment team in-house

Having played a big part in getting the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and even Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, Graham has been instrumental to the Reds’ success over the past decade.

Having worked under Graham, Spearman will be able to carry on with his director’s work at Anfield.

As his lead data scientist, Spearman will have also played a key part in retrieving the statistics behind some of the club’s best signings.

He can’t be too short of brains, given he has received a PhD in Physics from the prestigious Harvard University.

Having also worked at the European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN), it seems like Liverpool are in good hands with Spearman.

It will be a shame to see Graham leave, albeit unexpectedly, but hopefully his replacement can continue to recruit the best of the best for the Merseyside outfit.
