Former Liverpool defender Jose Enrique cannot believe the Reds have been quoted £89m to sign Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani.
According to French outlet L’Equipe, the Merseyside outfit are battling Manchester United to land the 24-year-old.
As per the report, the Bundesliga club are set to demand as much as £89m to let go of the attacker, who they signed on a free transfer last summer.
However, Enrique was astounded by Frankfurt’s valuation of the player, taking to Twitter to share his thoughts on the situation.
“The prices for some players right now… Don’t know the player but [it] is crazy,” he wrote.
Muani not worth Liverpool spending £89m
Since arriving in Germany, Muani has been absolutely electric with his form.
In 28 appearances this season, the centre-forward has bagged 14 goals and 14 assists.
This includes nine goals and 12 assists in 18 Bundesliga matches, which puts him top in the division for assists and fifth for goals.
After Christopher Nkunku was revealed to be out injured for the World Cup, the 24-year-old took his place in the French squad.
This was a great call by Didier Deschamps, as Muani ensured France through to the final, with the second goal in their 2-0 win over Morocco.
He even assisted in the final by winning a penalty, which Kylian Mbappe emphatically slotted home.
However, despite his performances this term and the Bundesliga having compared him to Thierry Henry, it’s very unlikely Liverpool would look to sign the Frenchman in a deal worth £89m.
Having already welcomed Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo to Anfield, the Reds will now turn their attention to other positions – starting with the midfield.
