Pundit Gary Neville has been absolutely blown away by Liverpool target and Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha this season.
Speaking on The Overlap for Sky Sports’ YouTube channel, the former Manchester United man found himself agreeing with a Cottagers’ fan, who claimed the Portugal international has been a bargain at £17m.
“I think Palhinha to be honest with you, he’s absolutely fantastic him,” Neville said.
The recruitment team behind the scenes at Kirkby seemingly think the same thing.
According to journalist Dean Jones (via GiveMeSport), the Reds are now eyeing a surprise move for the 27-year-old in the summer.
Neville praises Liverpool-linked Palhinha
Having only arrived in London at the start of the season, the former Sporting Lisbon ace has really impressed in the middle of the park at Craven Cottage.
Thus far this term, Palhinha leads the entire Premier League for tackles made, having already amassed 98 since August. Incredibly, he leads second place Tyler Adams, of Leeds United, by a whole 20 tackles.
For Liverpool, the player with the highest tally is Thiago Alcantara, who has made 41 tackles this season.
This stat alone shows just how desperately the Merseyside outfit need to bring in an additional defensive midfielder this summer.
Having demonstrated he is more than capable of performing in the Premier League, Jurgen Klopp could look to the Fulham star to help solve his issues in the middle of the park.
