A new report from the Daily Star has shared a fresh update on the chances of Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard becoming the next Leeds United manager.

As per the report, club chairman Andrea Radrizzani has flown back to England to oversee the Whites’ search for Jesse Marsch’s replacement.

Rumours had circulated suggesting the Yorkshire outfit would look to lure Marcelo Bielsa back to the club, just ten months after his sacking.

However, the report claims this isn’t the case, while Mauricio Pochettino is said to be holding out for the Real Madrid job.

Leeds have drawn up a four-man shortlist of candidates, including the likes of Carlos Corberan, Kjetil Knutsen and Ange Postecoglou.

However, Liverpool legend Seven Gerrard isn’t included as a potential option.

The Anfield hero was previously at Aston Villa, where he was sacked back in October after 40 matches in charge.

Gerrard won’t be Leeds’s new manager

After 12 Premier League matches this season, Gerrard’s Villa side had won just two of their fixtures.

As a result, the Midlands club decided to part ways with him after just 11 months in charge.

With Jurgen Klopp currently set to leave Liverpool in the summer of 2026, the 42-year-old was a name touted to take over the role at the club.

Due to his legendary status on Merseyside, many fans were eager to get their former captain through the door.

Others, on the other hands, were weary of the prospect, worried he may ruin his legacy at Anfield.

However, after his struggled tenure at Villa, it doesn’t seem like the Reds will be offering Gerrard the first-team job anytime soon.

Instead, the former England international will need to look elsewhere first, before he is even considered for a return to Merseyside.

Perhaps a job abroad could do his career the world of good.
