Newcastle United have now entered the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, who is Liverpool’s number one transfer target this summer.
That’s according to Sport BILD, who claim that staying in Germany with BVB is ‘no longer an option’ for the 19-year-old.
As per the report, the Magpies are trying to put themselves in the mix to sign the England international.
The Reds have identified Bellingham as their main target for the summer window, and it has previously been said they’re the frontrunners in the battle to secure his signature.
Real Madrid are hot on their heels, while it is believed Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea have been ruled out by the player and his advisors.
Manchester City have also been touted with interest in recent months.
Newcastle now interested in Liverpool target Bellingham
The race for Bellingham is certainly hotting up, and with Liverpool’s lack of business in the January transfer window, the club will be feeling the pressure to land the teenager.
The Reds currently sit ninth in the Premier League table, with Champions League qualification looking a long way off.
Meanwhile, Newcastle are all the way up in third – not too far behind second place Man City.
However, if Bellingham’s decision was solely based off winning the most trophies, he would most likely pick Madrid.
Even in the Premier League, Pep Guardiola’s side would be leading the race.
Therefore, it’s great to see the 19-year-old taking such thought with his decision, with Anfield a real possibility.
Jurgen Klopp is desperate to bring him to Merseyside, so we will have to wait and see ahead of the summer window.
