Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has confirmed he will be joining Paris Saint-Germain, after claims Liverpool recently made contact to sign him.
Speaking in an interview with Futbolsfz, the 27-year-old revealed he has signed a deal with the French giants for the summer, when he leaves the Italian outfit upon the expiry of his contract.
However, PSG want to bring his arrival forward to January, and negotiations are ongoing between the two clubs.
According to 90min earlier in the window, the Reds made contact with Inter over a potential move.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were reportedly exploring their options following the injury sustained by Virgil van Dijk.
However, the Merseyside club were already interested in signing the Slovakia international before this, having been linked with the player since November.
Liverpool target Skriniar set to join PSG
This would have come as a big blow to Klopp, who could do with an extra player at centre-back.
At the moment, van Dijk is obviously unavailable due to injury. Joel Matip has been out of form as of late, and Joe Gomez has fluctuated this season. Furthermore, Nat Phillips is likely to leave Anfield before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
Therefore, the Reds could end up being short in the position.

Available on a free transfer at the end of the campaign, Skriniar could have been a perfect signing for Klopp.
Just last summer, Inter set a £70m price-tag for the defender, amid interest from PSG.
However, Skriniar refused to sign a new deal at the San Siro, and he is set for walk for nothing in less than six months’ time.
With such quality available on a free, Liverpool couldn’t have had a better opportunity at landing such an incredible bargain at centre-back.
