Reported Liverpool target Ivan Fresneda has congratulated his ‘friend’ Stefan Bajcetic on his contract extension at Anfield.
Bajcetic signed a deal to keep him at Liverpool until 2027 last night. And after posting his delight on Instagram, fellow Spaniard Fresneda sent him some wishes.
“Congratulations friend,” wrote the 18-year-old, who is currently hot property on the transfer market.
There was another familiar face amongst the well-wisher too – that of former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas. Aspas isn’t especially fondly remembered for his six months at Anfield in 2013. But it’s a different story at Celta Vigo, where he’s a club legend.

With Bajcetic obviously being a Vigo boy himself, it must have been nice to get a “Congratulations mate” from the vice-captain of his former club.
Nice to see the Liverpool youngster getting the credit he richly deserves.
Fresneda ready to follow in Stefan’s footsteps
Just like Bajcetic, Fresneda is a Spanish teenager making a big splash right now. But while the Liverpool man is just bursting onto the scene, the Real Valladolid right-back is already a fixture in his club’s first XI.
That has led to plenty of reports that he’ll soon be onto bigger and better things. One of the sides looking to give him the chance to do that is, reportedly, Liverpool.

Such burgeoning talent has also led to pretty much half of Europe entering the race, though. As a result, Liverpool don’t appear to be anything like favourites to land Fresneda.
Nevertheless, it looks like he’ll be on the move, perhaps even later this week. Premier League leaders Arsenal look like being his most likely destination.
As per The Daily Mail, the Gunners have already agreed to match Borussia Dortmund’s £13m bid for Fresneda. So, it would seem that the young defender could well be joining his mate Bajcetic in England soon. As for Aspas, that ship has long since sailed. What a career he’s had at Vigo, though.
