Real Valladolid right-back and Liverpool transfer target Ivan Fresneda could pick Arsenal as his next club today, according to The Athletic.
As per the report, the in-demand 18-year-old will make a decision on Monday over who he will sign for this month.
Both Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund have agreed terms for the player, with a £13.1m fee touted.
It is also said that the youngster will be loaned back to the La Liga outfit for the remainder of the season.
A whole host of other clubs have been involved in the race to the U19 Spain international, including the Reds, but it now appears the player could decide to join the Premier League leaders.
Liverpool linked Fresneda could potentially join Arsenal
Fresneda is an extremely technical player, who has excellent control over the ball. Much like Liverpool’s full-backs, the 18-year-old has a strong aptitude for going forward, but he is also a reliable defender.
However, while this profile would perfectly suit Jurgen Klopp’s side, there isn’t much room for him in the squad.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is obviously the Reds’ first-choice option at right-back. At 24 years old, this is unlikely to change anytime soon, as the Scouser looks set to spend his entire professional career at Anfield.
Although he is yet to hit the ground running, 19-year-old Calvin Ramsay was brought in last summer for his huge potential. Due to injuries, he has not been able to make much of an impact, but when he is ready, he is expected to earn his chance with the first-team.
Centre-back Joe Gomez also has a history of playing out wide for Klopp when needed, so Liverpool don’t really need a fresh addition in the position.
Although he has been hailed by talent scout Jacek Kulig as ‘superb’, Fresneda’s move to Arsenal really shouldn’t affect the Merseyside outfit all that much.
