Liverpool transfers: Moises Caicedo could move in the ‘last seconds’ of the transfer window

Reported Liverpool transfer target Moises Caicedo could still end up moving during the January window.

That’s according to journalist Ben Jacobs. Jacobs has been a constant commentator in the Caicedo saga, and he gave another update for The Football Terrace podcast today.

“If Brighton keep saying that they want £80 or £85m nothing is going to happen,” he said. “But I think we need to see whether a Chelsea or an Arsenal put their money where their mouth is.

“An offer of £75 million will make things very interesting. Brighton are currently saying ‘no, not for sale,’ but they are also looking for replacements which is a clue that for the right number they will sell now. Therefore this one is going to go right down the wire, in terms of the last days, minutes, hours if not seconds of the transfer window.”

Caicedo slipping away from Liverpool

Unfortunately, it seems as though if Caicedo does move in the next few days, then it won’t be to Liverpool.

So frequently mentioned as being the team battling Chelsea for the Ecuadorian, it seems they’ve now been replaced by Arsenal in that sense.

As a result, it’s perhaps in Liverpool fan’s best interests that Caicedo stays where he is for now.

If he does, there seems to be an expectation that the Reds could still come in for him. Right now, it’s been reported that Liverpool don’t see value in paying around £75m for the 21-year-old.

But with sources seemingly rubbishing Brighton’s chances of getting such a high figure, he could still go for less.

Either way, there seems virtually no chance of Liverpool paying out the money needed for Caicedo.

The only positive of a possible move away for the Ecuador international is that it could rule him out of this weekend’s game. He ran rings around Liverpool’s midfield when the two teams met ten days ago.

With a transfer looming early in the week, perhaps Roberto De Zerbi will see fit to leave him out against the Reds this time. This is how low we’ve stooped. Come on Liverpool, a player you’ve wanted forever is slipping away – do something!
