Liverpool are preparing a bid to sign Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.
That’s according to Calciomercatoweb, who suggest that the Croatian could be on the market this month.
Interest in Brozovic is said to come from ‘across Europe,’ which is making his future in Milan unclear. As well as Liverpool, Barcelona are claimed to be weighing up a move for the 30-year-old.
In Liverpool’s case, they are reportedly willing to offer Naby Keita in exchange for Brozovic. In addition to Keita, the Italian outlet claim that the Reds would put up ‘substantial cash’ in order to get their man.
Jurgen Klopp is believed to be the driver behind this bid. It’s reported that the Liverpool boss has ‘long been an admirer’ of Brozovic.
As a result, Klopp is said to be ready to make a late January move for him.
Brozovic rumours return
This isn’t the first time Brozovic has been suggested as a possible signing for Liverpool. Due to his age, a lot of fans may be quick to dismiss a move for him.
But he’d actually be a really smart signing. Capable of doing just about everything in midfield, he’d give Liverpool the legs that they’ve been missing this season.
As he’s now the wrong side of thirty, there would be question marks over how long he could offer that to the Reds, though. Fabinho, for example, is a whole year younger than Brozovic, and he’s looked leggy for a while already.
But when Jose Mourinho calls you ‘fantastic’, you know you’ve got something special.
Should it be a question of losing Keita and bringing in the Croatia international though, that would look like a good decision to make.
Liverpool have looked better with Naby in the side recently. But with his contract ticking down, you’d rather get money off a player like Brozovic then lose him for nothing in the summer. Still, this isn’t something we see happening, anyway. Klopp will keep with what he has it seems.
