Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool played had an ankle problem vs Wolves

Jurgen Klopp delivered a short injury update on Harvey Elliott after Liverpool beat Wolves 1-0. The teenager scored a magnificent winner.

Harvey Elliott took the headlines on Tuesday evening as his ‘astonishing’ goal settled Liverpool vs Wolves. It was a sensational strike as the teenager carried the ball from within his own half before firing a dipping shot from 25 yards.

That goal is worthy of winning every game, and we felt Elliott was the best player on the pitch for Liverpool. Exactly the game he, and the Reds, needed.

But it wasn’t easy for him. Jurgen Klopp explained after the game that Elliott actually received a knock in the game but ‘fought through’ it.

“It was good [the performance] in two different positions,” Klopp told the BBC. “Especially with an early knock on the ankle.

“No twisting or whatever, just a knock, which is going to be quite painful early in the second half but he fought through.”

What a player Elliott is. Not only did he score the goal he did, not only did he put in this overall performance, but he pushed through a knock on his ankle to do it.

Now, Klopp made sure to get across that this wasn’t a serious problem. It’s a painful one, no doubt, but Elliott should be okay.

And the Reds will want him. Next up is a massive game against struggling Chelsea and Elliott clearly has the kind of magic that can win the game.

With so many players out of form and low on confidence, the 19-year-old will be riding high. That could honestly be enough to put him into the starting lineup for the fixture.

But we’ll need to hope his ankle is okay and there’s no adverse reaction to the knock. Fingers crossed.
