Jurgen Klopp has made a request to the Liverpool board, says one journalist. The Reds need to do something this month.

This comes from Rudy Galetti. He told GiveMeSport that Jurgen Klopp has made a request to Liverpool in recent days.

“It’s hard to say with certainty right now [what Liverpool will do],” says Galetti. “Klopp, for sure, has asked for a central midfielder.

“Moisés Caicedo is one of the names Liverpool are monitoring with attention, but Brighton, to date, have no plans to sell him.”

So now we wait and see if anything comes of it. Klopp supposedly wants a player in this transfer window and that gives Liverpool around 15 days to make something happen.

And for what it’s worth, Fabrizio Romano also believes something could happen in the next few days. Liverpool’s awful form appears to have made something snap at the club and we could see action as a result.

Not that we know what kind of midfielder Liverpool want. That’s the great unknown here as the absolute elite options aren’t available. As Galetti says, Caicedo isn’t really an option if Brighton won’t sell. We all know that Jude Bellingham is a summer target but January is out of the question.

Enzo Fernández, then? Benfica want £103m to let him go now and as good as he is, we don’t think he’s worth that. Perhaps the most obvious is Ruben Neves, then.

Liverpool have been linked per the Mirror and we think he’d be a great fit for the side. There’s also a possibility that Wolves have just signed his replacement, opening the door to Anfield.

That seems to be the one to watch if Liverpool are moving for someone. There’s an outside chance of Enzo given the need for a real shock to the midfield system but it feels unlikely.

Neves, as far as we see it, is the target here.
