Trent Alexander-Arnold names the one 'positive' in Brighton 3-0 Liverpool

Trent Alexander-Arnold says there could be one ‘positive’ coming out of Liverpool losing 3-0 to Brighton on Saturday.

Liverpool suffered what could be their worst defeat of the Jurgen Klopp era on Saturday. They went to Brighton and lost 3-0, with the manner of the loss worse than anything else we can imagine.

Yes, even worse than that 7-2 against Aston Villa. That at least felt like a freak result that saw Villa constantly exploit Liverpool’s high line. There was no sense that it could happen again.

This one, though? Brighton were just a much better team than Liverpool and dominated them. They did it in exactly the way you’d have expected the reverse over the last few years. A dominant team in control of the game, toying with the visiting side.

It’s not exactly clear where Liverpool go from here and that’s certainly the line from the team. This was a shocking result and things are very negative right now.

But maybe there’s one positive.

Trent Alexander-Arnold looks for Liverpool positive

Trent Alexander-Arnold says there might be one positive from this mess. He’s clutching at straws, of course, but the full-back felt he needed to find something.

“I suppose if you try to put a positive spin on things then it’s something we can use as motivation,” he told

“We don’t want anything like this to happen again and we need to bounce back – that’s something that is a given at this point now. We need to bounce back in the next one.”

That’s about as much as you can do, of course. This one was a real shock to the system and perhaps that inspires something new from the players.

But that’s pure hope. Liverpool haven’t shown much over the last few games to suggest that something new is on the way. Alexander-Arnold is merely crossing his fingers with that one – and we’ll join him in it.
