Claims that Youssoufa Moukoko made an extravagant transfer demand have been denied by Fabrizio Romano. Liverpool are linked with the player.
This comes from Fabrizio Romano. He’s brandished claims that Youssoufa Moukoko asked for a £9m contract commission as ‘fake news’.
The teenager is out of contract in the summer and could leave Borussia Dortmund. They still hope to renew his deal, however, and that’s where the claims came in. The suggestion was that interest from bigger clubs had turned Moukoko’s head, leading to huge demands.
Romano, though, says that’s simply not the case and that Moukoko is asking for a reasonable deal.

“From what I’m told, there’s still a chance for him to stay and extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund,” he told CBS. “There are conversations ongoing. Let me also say that there’s lots of fake news going around this boy.
“We heard he wanted a ‘€10m commission to sign a new contract’ and I’m told this is absolutely not true. Moukoko never asked for a €10m commission. So I wanted to clarify that.”
Youssoufa Moukoko
Well, it’s certainly good news for Liverpool. SportBild claim that the Reds are an interested party here – as they well should be.
Moukoko is one of the best young forward on the planet, achieving incredible things at 18. That fact he’s available on a free transfer is quite remarkable. We can’t actually remember the last time a talent this good ran down his contract so early.
Liverpool could absolutely make room for him, too. Roberto Firmino’s contract is still expiring at the end of the campaign, creating a place for Moukoko.

Whether Liverpool can actually give the teenager the gametime he’d want is another matter. He’s far more likely to get that at Dortmund, which is likely why he could stay there.
But this is a player with ‘crazy’ talent and one who was believably making £9m demands. While it’s good that he doesn’t want that kind of money, Liverpool should absolutely find out what it would take.
