TalkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor claims he knows why Liverpool have been so poor this season.

Speaking on the station’s breakfast show, the former Aston Villa striker has taken credit for the Reds’ struggles this term, having ‘rattled’ Jurgen Klopp.

At the start of the season, the pundit slammed Manchester United’s performance following their 4-0 loss to Brentford. The German didn’t like the way he spoke about the players, as the Red Devils were scheduled to face Liverpool the following week.

Consequently, he reminded Agbonlahor of Villa’s 6-0 loss to the Reds back in 2016.

Having gone back and forth since, the TalkSPORT man suggested he is the reason Klopp’s side have performed so badly.

“Klopp only knew my first name, not my second name!” Agbonlahor said.

“He knew who I was, come on. It’s that way of saying, ‘I don’t know who he is, what’s his name? Gabby what?’

“And ever since, 16 points behind Arsenal now. It’s not been the mentality monster season has it for Liverpool.

“I’m just saying he’s been rattled and this season, Liverpool haven’t been the same as they should be.”

When questioned by his co-host whether he thinks he personally ‘rattled’ the Merseyside boss, Agbonlahor replied: “Yeah”.

Klopp and Agbonlahor continue to feud

This is a rather unexpected rivalry, yet it seemingly keeps cropping up.

All in all, it seems a bit pointless.

At times this season, Liverpool have been woeful. This isn’t a controversial view, as the side are extremely lucky to be sixth in the Premier League table.

Therefore, instead of getting onto the TalkSPORT pundit, Klopp should be busy in the transfer market trying to fix the issues he has in his squad.

The Reds look like a shadow of their former selves, and this has been coming on for a while. It really isn’t much of a shock.

The club have failed to bring in future replacements when their stars have been at their peak, and Liverpool are currently suffering for it.

An overhaul of the midfield is the first priority, and that needs to start now if the side are to see any sort of success this season.
