Liverpool could now miss out on signing Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko, as Newcastle United have launched a massive bid.

That’s according to the Evening Standard, who claim the Magpies are in talks with the 18-year-old ahead of a summer move.

It is reported that Eddie Howe’s side have proposed a deal worth over £150,000-a-week to the teenager, in order to lure him to St James’ Park upon the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.

Dortmund are said to be trying to tie Moukoko down to a new deal, but they cannot match the finances offered by Newcastle.

According to SportsBILD, the Reds are keen on landing the striker at Anfield on a free transfer.

Liverpool could miss out on Moukoko

At just 18-years-old, Moukoko has already burst onto the European football scene.

Two years ago, the German became the youngest ever player to feature in the Bundesliga. Just three weeks later, he also became the youngest ever player to feature in the Champions League.

Thus far this season, the attacker has amassed 22 appearances for Dortmund. Impressively, in 14 top-flight matches, he has bagged six goals and four assists – despite having started just eight of these games.

Hailed by Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o as ‘the next Messi’, it’s easy to see why clubs from across Europe are keen to land the teenaged talent.

At 18-years-old, £150,000-a-week is a crazy offer for Newcastle to make. Liverpool are unlikely to match that, despite their interest in the youngster.

Therefore, as things stand, the German wonderkid looks more likely to make the move to Tyneside rather than Merseyside.
