Leeds United youngster Lewis Bate has hailed Liverpool target Jamal Musiala as a future Ballon d’Or winner.

Speaking in an interview with The Telegraph, the Oxford United loanee was full of praise for the 19-year-old Bayern Munich star, who he played with for many years at Chelsea’s academy.

The midfielder believes Musiala’s success is ‘crazy’, but completely expected.

“I still remember sitting next to him at Maths every day when I was at Chelsea’s school,” Bate said.

“But it doesn’t surprise me. He was always going to go to the very top, he’s there now, but he will go on to win the Ballon d’Or.

“For me, I am biased because I grew up with him, he’s the best youngster in the world.”

According to Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are interested in signing Musiala, but Bayern are reluctant to sanction a sale.

Bate raves about Liverpool target Musiala

It appears the Reds are looking to build their team of tomorrow, having been linked with some of the best youngsters in world football.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is the obvious candidate here, as Jurgen Klopp is desperate to land the midfielder at Anfield in the summer.

However, another gem predicted to reach the very top is Musiala.

Incredibly for a 19-year-old, the attacking midfielder has become a mainstay in Bayern’s starting XI.

Thus far, the former Chelsea academy star has played 22 matches for the German outfit this season. This includes 14 appearances in the Bundesliga, during which he has managed to bag nine goals and seven assists.

Having already made 20 appearances for the German national team, Musiala has burst onto the scene as one of the best youngsters in the world.

Liverpool would love to have the midfielder in their squad, but with such incredible potential, Bayern will do all they can to keep hold of him.

Therefore, whilst this would be a dream transfer, it appears rather unlikely at the moment.
