Liverpool are interested in signing Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat this month, as Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the player.

That’s according to journalist Graeme Bailey, who spoke to TEAMtalk about the Reds’ pursuit of the Morocco international.

The Merseyside boss is desperate to land an additional midfielder at Anfield in January, and he appears to have identified the 26-year-old as his desired signing.

“There’s no getting away from the fact that Liverpool need to sort their midfield out, and they know it,” Bailey said.

“In terms of this month they have been keen to bring someone in, and Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat is a player that Klopp is a huge fan of.

“His performance at the World Cup finals was exceptional, but that has meant that his value is firm and Fiorentina don’t look like they will be persuaded into a loan deal with options – something which they were willing to do last year.”

According to journalist Dean Jones, the Serie A outfit will demand £40m to let Amrabat leave this month.

Klopp wants Amrabat at Liverpool

As a huge fan of the player, Klopp should do all he can to sign the midfielder over the next few weeks.

Liverpool are in desperate need of additions in the middle of the park, and Amrabat demonstrated at the World Cup that he is more than capable of performing at the highest level.

The 26-year-old played every single minute for Morocco out in Qatar, proving to be a pivotal member of the team.

Hailed for his brilliant performances, subsequent transfer speculation began to emerge. However, it has been claimed that the Reds have been keeping tabs on the Fiorentina star long before the World Cup, and that the tournament solidified their thoughts on the player.

Now Klopp needs to convince FSG to stump up the money, as a midfield addition this month should be the biggest priority for the club.
