Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold showed that he’s one of the very best passers in the world against Wolves tonight.
That’s according to pundit Eni Aluko, anyway. Covering this evening’s game for ITV, Aluko couldn’t get over just how good Trent’s assist for Darwin Nunez was.
“Look at this pass, it’s an absolutely unbelievable pass. It’s one thing to pass it into an area where the striker runs onto it, it’s another thing to pass it right into his stride,” she gushed, before praising Nunez too. “And look at that finish. I love that, because there’s a temptation to lace it and really strike through it but he’s just guided it. It’s a world class finish, brilliant.”
Aluko went on to claim that Alexander-Arnold is the best on the planet at playing those kinds of passes.
“[Trent’s pass] It’s perfect, it’s perfection. If you’re a striker in this Liverpool team you’ll always have a chance with someone like Trent on the pitch. He did it on Monday against Brentford for Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal, he’s the best in the world at that,”
No arguments here. Trent has been frustrated in forward areas this season but he’s now registered two beautiful assists in two games. You may not see a better pass all season than the one tonight. Perfect.
Trent finally gets his reward
What a boost for Liverpool to have Alexander-Arnold back amongst the assists once more.
It has been a funny old season for the 24-year-old so far. Until his in-swinging ball for Oxlade-Chamberlain to head home on Monday, he hadn’t set up a goal in the whole campaign.
In a bit of a role-reversal, the England man has actually been looking better defensively, though.
Perhaps that’s actually more important for the moment. We all know what he can do with the ball at his feet, that was always going to come.
If he can start to marry his defensive duties with his attacking output, he could still get even better.
Even if that day never arrives, Liverpool fans can rest easy knowing that his passing will surely never waver. There really aren’t many players in world football who could play that pass for Darwin tonight. Sensational
