Former Liverpool club doctor Jim Moxon has joined an arch-rival, according to reports. It’s a blow for the Reds.
Liverpool lost several staff members in 2022, with club doctor Jim Moxon amongst them. In fact, Moxon was one of the most high-profile departures and someone the Reds didn’t replace for six months.
He left the club on good terms, though, and published a letter on the club’s official site to show his gratitude to Liverpool. It was a nice gesture from someone not in the spotlight.
“During my time at LFC I have met and worked with so many fantastic people in every department across the club,” he said. “I have learnt so much about what makes a great team and how to be a better doctor.
“I have shared so many amazing experiences with my colleagues and the club are lucky to have so many great staff. I would like to wish everyone at the club – players and staff – the very best for the coming season and beyond.”

Liverpool explained the reason for the departure on Twitter: ‘a fresh challenge’. Well, Moxon has certainly found that.
The Liverpool Echo explains that the doctor has joined Manchester United. The move to the Reds’ arch-rivals is a rare one but he’s certainly going to find that challenge there.
Jim Moxon left Liverpool for Manchester United
Funnily enough, Moxon isn’t the only staff member to leave Liverpool in 2022 and find United after him. Several reports suggested Michael Edwards, who stepped down as sporting director last summer, was in their crosshairs.
The Athletic are amongst those making that claim – but Liverpool would be surprised if he joined another Premier League club.
Though, more recent reports suggest it’ll actually be bigger than that. Edwards will link up with Julian Ward, his replacement at Liverpool who will also leave this summer. Ian Graham, the club’s head of research, will form a trio that hopes to find another Premier League or Champions League club.

We’ll admit – this is all quite worrying. Moxon, Edwards, Ward and Graham have been massive behind-the-scenes figures at Liverpool. Now there’s a genuine chance that they all work at United by the end of the year.
At least Liverpool should hold onto Jurgen Klopp.
