James Milner shared a fantastic prank at Liverpool on Stefan Bajcetic that had the teenager panicking recently. He did figure things out eventually.
It won’t surprise anyone to learn that James Milner is the player in charge of fines at Liverpool. The veteran is so professional, in fact, that he actually fines himself.
Pep Lijnders discussed it in his book recently and now Liverpool’s vice-captain went into things in a little more detail. He was the guest on the Reds’ brand-new podcast where he talked about once having to fine himself £500 because Siri went off on his phone.

Phones appear to be a big one at Liverpool. As Milner explained, you can excuse being late in traffic because it’s out of control. Using your phone when you should be working, though? That’s just you breaking the rules.
It’s one that can also be used for wind-ups, though – as Milner was eager to share. He talked about a recent prank that had Stefan Bajcetic ‘panicking’.
James Milner shares Liverpool prank
“We had a funny one the other day, actually,” said Milner. “Stefan [Bajcetic] left his phone on the bus and Nat Phillips brought it off. He brought it over to me and said ‘get on this, I’ve set an alarm to go off every five minutes during dinner’.
“So the first one goes off and it’s like ‘are you joking?! 17 years old and your phone is going off!’. I got it on my watch that the next one is going off in another five minutes and it goes off and he’s like ‘no! no!’ starts pointing fingers and panicking.
“He caught on after the second one!”

We can only imagine the state Bajcetic was in as Milner shouted at him. Here’s one of the most professional players around getting mad at you for nothing you’re actually doing.
It wasn’t even about the money – Milner said that as Bajcetic was under 17 at the time, they couldn’t legally fine him. This was just a youth player worrying that he was accidentally blowing his reputation at Anfield!
Fortunately, it was just a prank and Bajcetic continues to grow that reputation. He’ll be more careful with his phone, though.
