Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho showed off his skills with a brilliant goal in senior training yesterday.

As seen on Liverpool’s official Twitter page, the 20-year-old stayed on after the session had ended to practice his finishing.

With the cameras very much on him, Carvalho gave them a treat. Stood outside the 18-yard box, the Portuguese youngster lined up a shot with his left foot.

Then, at the last moment, Fabio wrapped his right leg around his left, and dinked a beautiful shot into the top corner. A perfect ‘rabona.’ Okay, there was no goalkeeper. But still, that was *chef’s kiss.* Beautiful.

Confidence not a problem for Carvalho

In truth, it would be nice to see a little more of this kind of thing from Carvalho in-game.

Although the former Fulham forward has shown plenty of promise during his time at Anfield so far, we’ve often been left feeling a little short-changed.

There’s no doubt that the upheaval surrounding the team this season hasn’t done Carvalho any favours. He’s been asked to play a little more than he perhaps should have been in his opening months at the club, and is yet to nail down a position.

With Liverpool losing games at a rate not seen for several years, it hasn’t been easy for him to make his mark.

And yet, this little clip is a reminder of the quality that he does possess. Albeit it was a strike into an empty net in training, but that isn’t an easy skill to pull off. It’s that kind of quality on the ball which is said to have impressed Jurgen Klopp since his summer move.

If Liverpool can find the right way to fit the Carvalho into the team, he certainly has a bright future at Anfield.

He clearly isn’t short of confidence either. With seniors Trent Alexander-Arnold and Darwin Nunez watching on, the young man saw fit to showboat a little.

His friendly goal against Lyon last Sunday will hopefully allow him to take some of that confidence onto the pitch. It has been a slow burner for Fabio so far, but he has the talent and the confidence. Now he just needs to find the consistency.
